Chords on Stage Display: Alpha Release

September 29, 2025
New Alpha Release

Confused as to how to enter chords on the Stage Display

So if I enter a song lyric

How would I enter CHORDS on the song so it only displays on the Stage Display?

Please be specific as we are evaluating this program to see if we wish to continue.

Thank you

Hi Dan,

Thanks for reaching out! We’ll be updating our documentation as we get closer to release, but in the meantime here’s a quick guide to the feature.

Stage Display chords are set up by adding ChordPro-style formatting to a slide’s notes, then creating a Stage Display template configured to display those notes.

It does take some configuration. Here are the steps:

1. Edit a song’s notes field with ChordPro styling
Edit a song and enter your ChordPro text into the slide notes (repeat for each slide).
Example:
A[G]mazing [G7]Grace, how [C]sweet the [G]sound
That [G]saved a [G7]wretch like [D]me!

2. Configure a Stage Display template
Go to Settings > Manage Templates. You’ll see some default templates you can start from, or you can create a new one and select the Stage Display template type.
In the editor, add a text box layer and set its "Assigned Text" value to "Current Slide: Notes."
(Optional: add another text box and assign it to "Next Slide: Notes" if you want.)

3. Set the template in app settings
Go to Settings > Stage Display, then choose the new template as the default for specific service item types, or configure it per service item.

Hope this helps! Have a great day!

Well it works
Sorta

So when we put a line with chords like this

Bb A# F- D A C
Amazing Grace How sweet the sound

It turns out like this

BbA#F-DAC AmazingGraceHowsweetthesound

How do we adjust this so it displays correctly?

You'll need to be sure that the text entered into the Slide notes is following the ChordPro formatting in order for the notes to be interpreted accurately. To correct the issue, ensure that the chord names are entered in square brackets (e.g. [G] ), and then placed in the same line as the lyric where you'd like the chord change to occur.

Example for Slide notes:
A[G]mazing [G7]Grace, how [C]sweet the [G]sound
That [G]saved a [G7]wretch like [D]me!

Stage Display renders as:
G G7 C G
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
G G7 D
That saved a wretch like me!

Thanks!

^ (This forum's text styling removed the accurate spacing of the Stage Display render, but the chords should appear above the lyrics at the specified location)
