Bug report: Community unselects users when searching

October 17, 2025
What I want to do:
From the in the community people page, email 2 people using bulk actions, searching for them by name using the search box.

What I did:
Search for the first name, select that person, search for the second person, select that person

What I expected to happen:
Two users selected on the people page for me to send a bulk email to both

What actually happened:
Only the second user was selected, the first user was unselected when I started typing the name of the second user in the search box

Why this is a problem:
I cannot scroll through 100s of names, so I need to use the search box to search for multiple people and keep them selected while I search for more people

Many thanks,
Toby

At the moment, the search box on the People page resets the list each time you search, which clears any previous selections. That’s why only the most recent person remains selected when you start a new search. We understand how this makes it difficult to email multiple individuals without scrolling through long lists. The current design is intended for selecting people from a single filtered view, rather than across multiple searches. As a workaround, you can use filters or tags to group people together and then select them in one view or manually add recipients when composing the email.

Thanks Tony. Is there any downside to keeping selections that would justify wiping them ? I understand if this is a feature but I'm still leaning towards this being a bug

The system refreshes the list with each new search, which clears selections by default.

Ok I think I will have to stick with manually copying emails to Gmail one at a time when I have a group of people I know by name but don't have their emails saved in gmail. It's very slow and inconvenient but I don't see how this use case is currently possible in community as filters can't select multiple different names at once. It's a shame.
